What is a patella knee brace?
A patella knee brace is a knee support built around the kneecap, usually with a pad or ring that surrounds the patella instead of pressing flat on it. Ours use a patella-shaped silicone gel ring inside knitted compression, which helps the kneecap track and stay centered as the knee bends. How much side support you get depends on the model, from compression-only to rigid hinges.
Should I get a sleeve or a hinged brace for kneecap pain?
If the knee feels stable and the ache sits at the front, a compression sleeve is usually the place to start: it's slim and made for all-day wear. If the knee also feels loose or gives way, a hinged brace adds rigid side support, and ours has removable hinges so it can step down to compression as you improve. Can I wear a patella knee brace all day?
Yes. The knitted compression is breathable and designed for extended wear at work, in training and around the house, and the silicone lining keeps it from sliding down. Take it off at night to let your skin breathe.
