"Provides really great support, and the Ice pack lasts a long time. Immediate reduced lower back pain. I wear it around house, and having the hands free ice pack is awesome. Very happy with purchase."
"This was exactly what the doctor ordered! The back brace offers support where you need it and the ice/heat therapy is a bonus. The packs are sturdy and stay cold/warm long enough to do the job."
Hot and Cold Therapy for Training, Recovery and Rehab
Old Bones Therapy makes innovative hot/cold therapy wraps for training, faster muscle recovery, and rehabilitation. Featuring our best selling back brace with a built in ice pack pouch.
What ties this collection together is one idea: therapy you can strap on and then walk away from. Every item here holds a gel pack against the part that needs it, so twenty minutes of cold actually counts as twenty minutes of treatment — instead of twenty minutes spent holding a bag in place.
Back Brace with a Built-In Ice Pack Pouch
The Back Brace is the reason this collection stands on its own. Lumbar support is easy to find. A brace designed around a gel pack is not. A pouch sits in the panel that crosses your lower back and takes a single pack, which turns icing from something you lie down for into something you can do while you work.
Three sizes. $75 on its own, or $85 with two packs — the option most people take.
Gel Ice Packs
The OG Gel Ice Pack is the part doing the actual work, and it is cut to fit everything else on this page. It stays pliable at freezer temperature, so it curves around a joint rather than bridging across it — which is the whole difference between contact and pressure. Ten dollars, reusable for as long as you keep it.
Buy a second one. The pouch takes a single pack, and a pack holds its temperature for roughly the length of one session, so the spare is what lets you run a second round without standing around waiting on the freezer.
Ice and Heat, One Easy Pack
The gel is rated for both extremes, so a single pack covers the whole arc of an injury. Cold in the early days, when swelling and sharp pain are the problem. Heat later, for the stiffness that lingers — or ahead of activity, when the goal is to loosen a joint rather than calm it down. Freeze it, or warm it in the microwave in short bursts.
Either direction, fifteen to twenty minutes makes a session, with a gap in between to let the area come back to its normal temperature.
Joint-Specific Sleeves
For knees, ankles, wrists and shoulders, a shaped sleeve holds the gel against the joint on all sides rather than flat against one face of it. The full range lives on our ice sleeves collection.
FAQs
Does the back brace come with gel packs?
Not on its own. The standard Back Brace is $75 in three sizes, with the pouch built in but no packs. On the product page there is a Back Brace + Ice Packs option that adds two gel packs at half price, bringing it to $85 — and two is the right number, because the pouch holds one while the spare re-freezes.
Where does the gel pack go in the back brace?
Into a pouch built into the panel that sits over your lower back, sized for one Old Bones gel pack. The brace holds the pack against the lumbar spine so you can keep moving instead of holding it in place by hand.
Why are gel packs sold in twos?
The pouch holds one. A gel pack only stays cold for so long, and the moment it goes lukewarm the session is over. Keep the spare in the freezer and you can swap in a fresh one without waiting — one on your back, one getting cold.
Can I use these for heat as well as ice?
Yes. The gel packs are freezer and microwave safe. Freeze for cold therapy when something is inflamed; microwave in 15-second intervals until warm for heat therapy on stiff joints or as a warm-up before activity.
How long should one session last?
Fifteen to twenty minutes, with at least 45 minutes between sessions so the area returns to normal temperature first.
